What is AI Changing Work?

AI Changing Work republishes occupation-level AI exposure figures drawn from external research — Anthropic Economic Index, OpenAI "GPTs are GPTs" exposure rubric, ILO Working Paper 140, and BLS AI exposure categories — alongside employment, wage and projected-change figures from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Its occupation list has 1,048 occupations: O*NET-SOC occupations plus other occupations specific to individual countries. Exposure and BLS figures appear for the occupations their source datasets cover. The site is free to access and available in 11 languages.

Where do the exposure figures come from?

They come from published research datasets — Anthropic Economic Index (CC BY 4.0), OpenAI "GPTs are GPTs" exposure rubric (MIT License), ILO Working Paper 140 (CC BY 4.0), and BLS AI exposure categories (Public domain (17 U.S.C. §105)) — carried at the value each publisher assigned: AI Changing Work does not rescale, reweight, reclassify or blend them. AI Changing Work maps those datasets onto O*NET occupation and task codes; it does not calculate exposure scores of its own. Presentation is localised — for example, where a publisher expresses a value as a worded category rather than a number, the wording shown is that category translated into the page's language. Localisation changes how a value is written, not which value its publisher assigned. Where a dataset does not cover an occupation, the page says so instead of showing a number.

Are these figures a forecast?

Accepted Answer

No. The exposure indices report exposure as each source dataset published it, not a prediction of future job losses. AI Changing Work makes no projection of its own; forward-looking figures on the site — such as the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Employment Projections for 2025-35, shown at the SOC occupational-group level — are republished from the publisher that produced them and attributed to it.
