- -사고 통보를 접수하면 손해발생 사실을 확인하고, 보험약관 및 관계법규 적용을 적정 여부를 판단한다.
- -사고특성에 따라 분야별 보험금심사원을 선정한다.
- -사고원인, 손해정도, 손해액 산정 업무를 보험금심사원에게 위임하거나, 함께 조사한다.
- -조사내용을 분석·정리하여 손해액이나 보험금의 적정 가격을 결정한다.
- -보상범위를 결정하기 위하여 보상금심사원의 보고서를 조사하고 유사한 보험클래임이나 판례, 사례들을 검토한다.
- -보상청구의 타당성 여부와 협상이 관례 및 절차에 따라 이루어졌는지 확인한다.
- -보험금 청구의 적정성을 심사하기 위해 변호사, 의사 등 전문가에게 자문을 구하기도 한다.
